Wedded to Wanderlust: The RV at 100

My latest story for Smithsonian online celebrates the 100th anniversary of the RV, which seems to me a particularly American icon.  You can read it at 100 Years of the RV.

One of my favorite parts of the story is the brief mention of the Vagabonds — Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and naturalist John Burroughs — traveling via cars and campers throughout the country annually each summer on trips widely covered by the press.
